A NOTE ON MAKING CONTENT · SEPTEMBER 17, 2026
The recipe went missing. The story didn’t.
I made a salted honey pistachio latte and forgot to record the recipe. The useful footage was the finish: cream, coffee and a cup worth talking about.
Give the footage one clear job
A finishing pour can make someone curious. It doesn’t need to pretend to be a complete tutorial. Lead with the drink’s name, show the texture and tell people what they can find in the caption.
Be precise about what’s missing
“I forgot to record the measurements” is a perfectly good sentence. If you offer a new recipe, call it a recreation. Keep product credits tied to brands you can actually identify.
Let each destination earn its version
- Instagram: let the pour unfold; put the short recipe in the caption.
- TikTok: open on the finished cup, then show how the final pour came together.
- Your website: give the recipe a permanent home, with ingredients and a clear next step.
Keep the moments that carry your message. Give your audience a reason to stay and a clear next step.
Made the latte.
Forgot the recipe footage.
Kept the good part.
